Our 13 year old chocolate lab was formally diagnosed at the vet yesterday with congestive heart failure. (Right and left sided unfortunately)
Hes been started on an ace inhibitor and a diuretic. (It's been less than 24 hours, obviously we've not yet seen any results/change)
Just wondering if there are other dogs owners who have been down this path before.... how much did medication help improve your dog's quality of life? How long did your dog live after the diagnosis? Any tips on how to keep a (up until 2 weeks ago) active bouncy Lab quiet so he doesn't tax his heart and have acute episodes of pulmonary edema and coughing?
Anything you can pass along will be appreciated greatly!
I didn't find the right solution from the Internet.
